CNI WorkAvenue.com project specification

Proposed process for importing scanned resumes

  1. Resume scanned in, using any decent scanner and desktop OCR program (i.e. OmniPage).
  2. Text file opened in Microsoft Word template, where a macro puts the tags in correct places around the resume text. The tags must be placed even if no data other than the resume itself is present. (For this release, Word would be the editor of choice for scanned files and tags. For future releases, it is possible to develop more efficient methods, within Word or other programs, to move around the data entry points between tags.)
  3. Optional: Data entry/scanning clerk adds extra data collected from jobseeker (on paper form) between the appropriate tags to round out the seeker's system profile.
  4. Also optional: Clerk could scan, paste in cover letter text.
  5. Tagged text files placed in watched folder on Web server, from which they're imported in a timed process or on demand by site admin.
  6. When viewing a scanned seeker resume/profile detail, employers will see a line of text telling them it came from a scan, thus some profile information may not be included.
