General requirements

General data migration programs to move WorkAvenue.com.com employer, jobseeker and site administrator records, where applicable, into the product.
General compatibility with 3.x and 4.x versions of Web browsers from Netscape, Microsoft and America Online.
Banner and button ad positions pre-tagged to draw remotely from individual sites' ad management systems.
Employers and jobseekers will be able to determine how search results are sorted for display, by date, match score or alphabetically by the contents of one or more fields.
Employers and jobseekers, in the process of searching for each other, will be able to enter keyword search criteria, inclusive and exclusive, and have choices of other profile criteria to limit search results. Search results will include display of a "match score," which should be a percentile ranking compiled in a logical, reasonable, explainable fashion from those criteria.
Jobseeker-side features and functions
Unique user IDs and passwords for each user, created and maintained by users in Web forms (J10) and system-validated.
Create, read, update and delete for jobseeker profile using Web form (J10). Profiles expire a configurable (by site administrator) number of months from last update by user.
Create, read, update and delete Job Agent criteria using Web form (J02). Job Agent keyword criteria match against free text of job descriptions. Other Job Agent criteria (category, salary range, location, job type, availability) match against comparable data types entered by employers into job description records. Job Agents expire a configurable (by site administrator) number of months from last update by user.
Create, read, update and delete resume text using Web form (J02). Resumes expire a configurable (by site administrator) number of months from last update by user.
User must be able to choose a confidentiality status for resume with functionality as defined in J02.
Create, read, update and delete cover letter text using Web form (J03). Employers won't match any criteria against this text, but it will be displayed with public resumes (see E10, E12).
Registered or unregistered jobseekers should be able to initiate a quick, ad hoc job search (J06) using some of the same criteria as a full Job Agent.
Job Agent search results display in the jobseeker's Main Menu (J01). From that menu, users will be able to link to and view detailed job descriptions and employer profiles; see what city the job is located in and the job ID number (system generated record ID).
Ad hoc search results display in a separate Search Results page (J07). The Search Results page is designed to work for both unregistered and registered users.
Upon click from Main Menu or Search Results pages, system should display individual job record details (J08) built from criteria entered by employers (see E02). User with resume in system should be able to nominate resume after viewing job description.
Upon click from Main Menu or Search Results pages, system should display employer profiles (J05) as built by employers (see E04).
Employers may have need to request release of confidential resumes, which will permit them to see jobseeker profiles with full contact information (see E08). Jobseekers will see a page where they can check employer messages and respond to them (J09).
Users should be able to select employer profiles from a list of all employers on the system (J04).
Employer-side features and functions
Unique user IDs and passwords for each user, created and maintained by users in Web forms (E03) and system-validated.
Create, read, update and delete for employer-user profile using Web form (E03). Permissions for each employer-user are determined either by company administrators or site administrators.
Create, read, update and delete Resume Agent criteria using Web form (E02). Resume Agent keyword criteria match against free text of resumes. Other Resume Agent criteria (category, salary range, location, job type, availability) match against comparable data types entered by jobseekers into resume/profile records.
Create, read, update and delete job description text using Web form (E02). Job descriptions may have status of active/public, active/private or inactive, with effects as defined on the HTML page.
Registered or unregistered employers should be able to initiate a quick, ad hoc resume search (E05) using some of the same criteria as a full Resume Agent.
Resume Agent search results display in the Agent Results Table (E04). From that menu, users will be able to link to and view detailed jobseeker profiles; see what city the jobseeker is located in; and see the seeker ID (system generated record ID number).
Ad hoc search results display in a separate Search Results page (E06).
Upon click from Main Menu or Search Results pages, system should display individual jobseeker record details (E07 for confidential resumes and E10 for public resumes) built from criteria entered by jobseekers (see J02). Employer user should be able to view public resume or invite confidential jobseeker from this detail record. Resumes marked confidential will not be displayed to employers until invited and approved to do so; however, basic profile information without contact information will display. In no event will contact information display to employers unless the resume is public.
Upon viewing a full jobseeker detail, employer should have the ability to forward a copy of the jobseeker detail record (including resume and cover letter) to another party via e-mail.
Employer users with proper permissions will be able to create, read, update and delete their company's employer profile (E04).
Employers will see a page where they can check jobseeker messages such as self-nominations and replies to invitations to release confidentiality, and act on them (E09).
Site administration features and functions
All site admin functions protected by authentication.
Unique user IDs and passwords for each user, created and maintained by users in Web forms (J11) and system-validated.
Site administration designed to perform all general functions required to sustain a subscription-access model for employers, with no charge to jobseekers at this time. Employers would pay flat or package rates (to be determined) for site-specified levels of system permissions and durations. Employers would not be billed per system event (i.e. per resume download, job update, employer profile), but some of these system events still need to be tracked for management reporting purposes.
Site admins allowed to set up an employer (company) and maintain its information. An employer in the system should be able to have multiple users, with various permissions, all managed by site admin or an "employer admin" user ID. Site admins should have a search interface to quickly find current employers and employer/users, then edit their profiles and permissions.
Site admins allowed to set up a jobseeker profile/resume and maintain its information. A jobseeker in the system may have only one resume per profile. Site admins should have a search interface to quickly find current jobseekers, then edit their profiles and permissions.
Site admins should have an interface to readily import scanned/OCR resume text into a jobseeker profile/resume screen, then enter profile data in the remaining form fields. A method to batch-process a series of ASCII .txt files stored on a Windows PC into a series of edit-ready system screens is preferred, given the volume of scanning maintained in the current system.
Site admins should have a method for editing the graphic appearance and text of headers, footers and other templated HTML.
Site admins should have linked access to current and archival Web statistics, from packages such as WebStat (for basic numbers) and/or WebTrends (for trending). For this purpose, it's preferred to have natural-language URLs generated by the system for dynamically-built pages wherever possible.
Here's a list of system events for which we know tracking (defined roughly as recording the event, date, time, record ID, and user ID) is required. Others may be added as system design is finalized:
1. Jobseeker ID create, update, delete, expire
2. Jobseeker profile/resume create, update, delete, expire, status change
3. Employer (overall company) ID create, update, delete, expire, status/permissions change
4. Employer (individual user) ID create, update, delete, expire, status/permissions change
5. Employer job create, update, delete, expire, status change
6. Employer profile create, update, delete, expire
7. Aggregated and individual (per user ID) jobseeker views per job
8. Aggregated and individual (per user ID) jobseeker views per employer profile
9. Aggregated and individual (per user ID) employer views per jobseeker profile, resume, cover letter
10. Site admin review of jobs, approve or deny
11. Site admin review of employer profiles, approve or deny
Storage of system event tracking records should grow out to 18 months of "live" data, then on a monthly basis, the oldest month's data may be archived and removed from the "live" tables.
Site admins will need to run various other management reports. We are prepared to use SQL-based report-writing software to generate our own report templates. However, we'll need access to all the transaction data listed above plus the ability to generate the following reports either as snapshots or date-range driven:
1. Snapshot: Total jobseeker profiles/resumes per job category
2. Snapshot: Total public profiles/resumes or confidential profiles/resumes
3. Snapshot: Total profiles/resumes entered online (by seeker directly) or from scanned resume (by site admin)
4. Snapshot: Total active employer profiles; number of registered employers; number of users per employer; number of active jobs; number of self-nominations
5. Date range: Total views per company profile
6. By date: Expirations of jobs, resumes, profiles
