Thoughts on a light week

I'm not posting much this week because (a) I've been working hard on personal projects so I'm tired, (b) I've been working hard on Scripps projects so I'm tired, and (c) well, I'm just tired. Even so, before the sleep and vitamins kick in, I do have a few random thoughts.
- Amanda Congdon leaving Rocketboom doesn't seem nearly as important to me as to, apparently, the entire rest of the Internet. The nature of this episode -- name-brand partner announces breakup on Web video, behind-the-scenes partner responds in comments and posts on a variety of friends' blogs -- feels a bit too transparent. You guys have a right to privacy, and sometimes you should exercise it for everyone else's sake.
- Then again, I'd say that quietly to the Rocketboomers only after shouting it to Paris Hilton, Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan and/or Nicole Richie. It's all relative.
- So eBay banned Google Checkout. Hmm. The eBay home page currently sports a Google PageRank of 9 out of 10, and Google has "about 150,000,000" eBay pages indexed. I can't stand searching for things on eBay's own user interface, but I can sometimes find relevant items on eBay using Google (or Yahoo, for that matter) search. So who's ahead?
- Word-of-mouth marketing works. But it costs more, takes more time and requires more pure luck to work than one ever expects at the outset. Trust me on this.
OK, now my batteries are really down, so I will stop before I fall asleezzzzzzzzzzzz.
